Learn to see flowers in a new light. Life is too short to shoot boring photos and you will learn how to create images that will change the way you use your camera and your imaging editing software (if you use it and you will want to use it after the course). This workshop will teach you the eight fundamentals of creating unforgettable images. This six-hour course will consist of lectures, assignments, review of assignments, demonstrations of different techniques, and lavish praise of students’ good work. The students will also be able to lunch with Larry (BYOL) and ask any questions they have. It will be a busy day.
This workshop is perfect for anyone who has a camera (phone camera up through DSLR or mirrorless camera) and wants to be a better photographer of flowers (or just a better photographer). Photoimaging aids will be available for participants to try out.
Workshop Registration:
No experience necessary. Class size is limited! Please note: A majority of the class will be held indoors, proof of vaccination is required and masks must be worn indoors in accordance with the current Mendocino County Health Order.
Registration for this workshop may be completed online. Class cost is $120 per participant and includes Gardens admission for the day ($100 – discounted rate for MCBG Members and Master Gardeners). Payment is due upon sign-up. All workshop fees are non-refundable unless the workshop has been canceled or rescheduled by the Gardens.
Materials to bring:
Your camera and a way to transfer the photos you take in the class to Larry’s computer. His computer has a SDXC card reader. If you are using a phone camera, you may either email him the photos or AirDrop them. He will be sharing them with the class. You may want to bring a backup battery or charging cable, nothing worse than having a dead battery!
About the Instructor:
Larry R Wagner has been a professional fine arts photographer since 2005. He shoots a broad range of photographic genres as the photographer for Symphony of the Redwoods, Mendocino Center for Circus Arts, Mendocino Theatre Company and Mendocino Art Center. He loves nature photography where the Mendocino coast provides an amazing array of subjects. He has a special love for the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens as his wife’s parents, Ernest and Betty Schoefer were the founders of the Gardens.
Larry believes life is too short to take and display boring photos and offers courses through the Mendocino Art Center as an attempt to snuff out the taking of bad photos. His latest offering: a six-week online Master Class: Creating Unforgettable Fine Art Images, that is taught several times a year.
