Mosaic Basics

Select weekends in 2025
from 10AM to 12:30 PM
at the MCBG Meeting Room

Learn to create masterpieces during this hands-on workshop with mosaic artist LeeAnn Dickson. In the two-day workshop, you will come away with an understanding of the process of creating mosaics and bring home your very own artful 10-inch flowerpot. LeeAnn's teaching style is immersive and fun! She will give several demonstrations on how to cut and apply tile, grout, and finish your piece.

Mosiac Basics is sponsored by Friends of the Gardens (FOG) and hosted by Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Learn more about FOG and all of the wonderful things they do to support the Gardens.

  • Class size is kept small size to ensure lots of one-on-one instruction, help with design, and application of materials.
  • All materials, safety equipment, and tools, are included with the registration fee. If you want to bring a dish or object from home to incorporate into your piece, please do!
  • We will have a lunch break; you are welcome to bring a lunch. There is refrigeration available and a microwave.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

LeeAnn has been creating mosaic art for nearly three decades. She enjoys life surrounded by redwoods and lots of native animals just outside of Fort Bragg with her husband, two dogs, and two cats.

While enjoying a part-time hobby during her 42-year career, she is now retired and breaking tile and plates full-time. Her one-of-a-kind designs range from wall hangings and bird baths to tables and lots of pots for planting. She combines found items with colorful tiles, cups, dishes, and more to create fun and functional items. Her work can be found and purchased in the Gardens gift shop and Pacific Pearl on Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. She also participates in several art shows in Mendocino County throughout the year, including Art in the Gardens.

While working in the railroad industry in the Bay Area and Sacramento area, she was a safety and employee trainer. She now brings her instructional expertise to help students mosaic all types of items. When not teaching in her home studio, she offers classes at the Gardens. More information can be found on her website, www.justduckydickson.com.
